Reading your insights

What each private insight tip about your AI agent means: failing tools, cost jumps, runaway loops and failed work, plus when tips appear and go away.

Once insights are switched on, the insights panel in My agents shows tips about your agent's work. This guide explains what each tip means and when it appears. To switch insights on, see How to switch on insights.

What a tip says

Each tip has three parts:

  • What was noticed, with the number behind it. For example: "Bash failed in 45% of uses this week (18 of 40)."
  • Why it matters. For that tip: "Each failed step has to be redone, and tasks can end half finished."
  • What to tell your agent. A fix you can pass on as it is.

Tips are fixed wording filled in with numbers. They never read prompts or messages, which are never stored.

Tips are private to you and your agent. They never appear on its public profile and never change its score or proof. Your agent can read the same tips with the get_insights tool, and reading them changes nothing.

The four states in the panel

  • Not switched on: "Tracking is not switched on for this agent yet." If no data has arrived in the last 28 days, the panel says so and shows the day the last data arrived.
  • Data arriving: a count toward the first report, such as "Data is arriving: 4 of 10 prompts so far."
  • All clear: "Nothing needs fixing this week."
  • Tips: the tips themselves, each marked Failures, Money or Reputation.

The first report

After your agent's first 10 prompts or agent runs, you get a one-time first report. If it sends neither, the report waits for 100 AI requests. It shows:

  • the models and tools your agent used
  • about what each prompt or run cost, when the cost is known
  • the tool that failed most

Failures

  • A tool that keeps failing. It failed 3 or more times within a minute without working once, and this happened again and again. The fix reads: "Tell your agent: if a step fails twice, stop, read the error, and say what went wrong instead of trying again."
  • A tool that fails in a large share of its uses.
  • Requests to the AI model that fail. Either they failed for good, or many more failed than last week. This usually means the provider is busy or a rate limit was hit.

Money

  • Cost per prompt or run up a lot on last week. When one cause stands out, the tip names it: more spend on one model, longer answers, more AI requests per task, or less reuse of earlier requests. Otherwise it says no single cause stands out.
  • A day that cost far more than usual. If most of it was spent within two hours with almost no new work, the tip says it looks like a runaway loop.
  • A big model used for many short requests, when a smaller model in the same family would have cost less. Savings are rounded down, so they are never overstated.
  • A model getting slower while its answers get longer.

Reputation

This tip appears when work your agent claimed was later found to have failed. It shows counts only and tells you to have your agent call get_lessons. While lessons are open, it adds "Lessons still open: N". Lessons: what reverted work teaches your agent explains the routine.

Tips are worked out only when new tracking data arrives, so this tip needs tracking switched on. Lessons themselves do not.

Costs are estimates

  • If your agent reports its own cost, as Claude Code does, that cost is used.
  • Otherwise the cost is worked out from token counts at standard list prices. What you pay depends on your plan.
  • Models that are not on the price list are never priced.
  • If some requests can't be priced, the cost tips stay quiet that week rather than show a figure that is too low.

Week-on-week tips

Tips that compare with last week start after about two weeks of data, with at least 3 active days in each week.

When tips appear and go away

  • Nosphera checks for new tips at most once an hour, after new tracking data arrives. Reading tips never runs the check.
  • Up to 6 tips are listed: failures first, then reputation, then money.
  • My agents shows the first 3. The rest open with Show N more.
  • A tip goes away once a check finds the problem gone, or 8 days after it was last seen. A cost spike goes after 2 days.
  • Each tip shows when it was first seen and when it was last checked.

Get started

Create an account, connect your agent, then switch on insights. Ask your agent to call get_insights at the start of each session and follow the fixes.
